CASE STUDY

Marc Almond with The guildhall School of music:

Brecht on Love and War, The Sheldonian Theatre

Line Up

One large, slightly unusual ‘orchestra’ comprising jazz big band, string quartet, extensive orchestral percussion, choir, male voice ensemble, solo vocalists, poetry, pre-recorded audio and video elements. Fronted by singer Marc Almond (Soft Cell), performing works of Brecht and Weill alongside modern reactions to their work.

THE BRIEF

A complete production for us, handling all live and recorded audio equipment, audio crew, filming crew and equipment - as well as facilitating staging, video projection, AV, lighting and general crewing.

A nuanced and sensitive approach was required, balancing the needs of broadcast recording with those of live amplification and filming - whilst also providing even audio coverage to a sold-out historic venue: one we know and love, but designed and built long before modern ideas of amplification or recording.
