AURORA ORCHESTRA IN IMMERSIVE SURROUND SOUND

THE PRINTWORKS, LONDON

THE SHOW

Aurora Orchestra, known for playing standing and from memory, conceived an event where the audience were free to walk amongst them during a performance of Beethoven’s 7th Symphony.

THE BRIEF

We were tasked with putting together a team to bring the performance alive within the remarkably ‘dead’ acoustic of the old Daily Mail printworks.

Tim turned to speaker manufacturer and immersive audio pioneers d&b Audiotechnik and well-regarded hire company Southby, co-designing what is believed to be (at that point) the largest installation of their particular immersive system.

The resulting ‘acoustic shell’ enveloped an audience of over 1000.

THE RESULT

“Absolutely electric…if there’s a night to make you hopeful about the future of classical music, it was this”

‘I felt like I lived in the music”
